About the role

Join our team at a cutting-edge data center set to open in Colorado City, TX, where you'll work with state-of-the-art infrastructure from day one. As a Critical Facilities Engineer, you'll play a key role in launching this new facility while developing your technical expertise in a dynamic environment designed for professional growth and advancement.

The Critical Facilities Engineer is responsible for delivery of best practice systems and problem resolution on all data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure (UPS, MV electrical systems, generators, cooling systems etc.).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems to maintain 100% uptime, including:
  • Fire/life safety systems
  • Mechanical systems (HVAC, chillers, CRAC, CRAH, plumbing, controls)
  • Electrical systems (lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, generators, primary switchgear, power distribution, transformers)
  • Hot water systems
• Monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, ventilating and water heaters; pumps, valves, piping, and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Records readings and makes adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
• Analyzes the operation of various systems, determines the cause of any problems/malfunctions, and takes corrective action as required.
• Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Maintains a clean and safe workplace.
• Learns and understands the data center site to manage incidents and events that put the critical systems at risk.
• Manages work orders, including CMMS, vendor management, and customer-facing tickets.
• Understands and complies with emergency escalation procedures.
• Performs additional job duties as required.

Requirements

• 2+ years' experience working in a data center or critical facility.
• Experience with building systems, including UPS systems, emergency generators, switchgears, HVAC, chillers, CRAC or CRAH units.
• Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Suite, and CMMS.

Preferred Qualifications

• Corrigo experience
• Universal EPA 608 certification
• Trained in NFPA 70E

Physical Work Abilities & Requirements

• Frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, and working/extending overhead.
• Walking large, campus-like settings.
• Lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Climbing stairs and navigating rooftops to access equipment.
• Using ladders up to 30 ft and working from heights.
• Ability to climb a ladder with a 300-lb weight limit.
• Must be able to work different schedules, including holidays.
• Must be able to respond to site emergencies.
