About the role

Responsible for providing emergency nursing care in a prompt and efficient manner to all patients transported via Mercy Health Life Flight Network. The Critical Care Transport Nurse assesses, plans, organizes, documents, and evaluates patient care in conjunction with another Critical Care Transport Care provider. Acts as a professional representative of Bon Secours Mercy Health to the community, serves as an educator to professional groups and emergency medical services, and promotes Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center and Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center as regional referral centers. Assists in the provision of care to patients of all age groups (neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric). Hired initially for a ground Mobile Intensive Care Unit base with progression toward rotor wing flight cross-training if interested and openings are available.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency nursing care during patient transport.
  • Assess, plan, organize, document, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with another Critical Care Transport provider.
  • Represent Bon Secours Mercy Health professionally in the community.
  • Educate professional groups and emergency medical services.
  • Promote regional referral centers (Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center and Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center).
  • Deliver care to patients across all age groups (neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric).

Requirements

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Ohio.
  • CAMTS-approved advanced certification (CFRN or CTRN) required or must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 6 months of hire.
  • FEMA 100, 200, & 700 certifications within 6 months of hire.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Michigan Registered Nurse license (required for Wauseon Flight Base).
  • EMT or Paramedic Certification (required for Wauseon Flight Base).
  • Michigan EMT or Paramedic Certification (required for Wauseon Flight Base).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional nursing experience in critical care, with at least 1 year of emergency care experience.
  • 16-week minimum orientation to acquire familiarity with department and unit policies and procedures.

Skills

  • Analytical abilities and sound nursing knowledge for effective patient care planning and implementation.
  • Problem-solving skills for formulating and documenting patient care plans.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, physicians, and hospital personnel.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills for participating in professional and community education programs.
  • Ability to maintain good public relations for the institution.
