Maintains and cares for all equipment

  • Cleans intravenous pumps, poles, glucometer, and ultrasound machine with hospital approved disinfectant, before and after use.

Maintains patient areas

  • Ensures patient areas are adequately supplied with supplies.

Completes equipment log and reports issues

  • Completes equipment log.
  • Reports broken equipment to supervisor.
  • Enters work orders for repair.

Ensures medication refrigerator is clean and monitored

  • Maintains medication refrigerator cleanliness.
  • Maintains refrigerator logs.
  • Reports deviations in temperature range to supervisor.

Collects vital signs and communicates abnormalities

  • Collects vital signs.
  • Communicates abnormalities to appropriate senior staff members.

Assists with patient transport and preparation

  • Accompanies patients to exam rooms for procedures.
  • Prepares clinic rooms for procedures.
  • Assists with positioning, turning, and ambulating patients.

Collects specimens and transports to lab

  • Collects stool, urine, and sputum specimens.
  • Transports collected specimens to laboratory.

Reports patient observations and changes

  • Reports any changes in patient condition or behavior to assigned nurse.

Adheres to policies and procedures

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures.
  • Safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience.
  • Certification and Licensing: Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
    • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
    • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
