About the Role
Homeland Talent Solutions is partnering with a leading healthcare organization in Knoxville, Tennessee, to identify an experienced Critical Care Nurse Manager. This role provides clinical and operational leadership for a 30-bed, high-acuity Critical Care Unit, overseeing approximately 93 employees. The position supports the continued growth of critical care services, including planned CVICU and Trauma expansion.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical, operational, and administrative leadership for a high-acuity Critical Care Unit.
- Lead, develop, coach, and evaluate nursing and support staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high-quality patient care.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, workforce allocation, and productivity to ensure appropriate coverage across the department.
- Support recruitment, retention, professional development, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets and ensure operations remain aligned with established financial parameters.
- Monitor clinical, operational, quality, and regulatory performance and implement improvement initiatives when needed.
- Establish departmental goals and objectives aligned with broader hospital and health-system priorities.
- Partner closely with physicians, nursing leadership, ancillary departments, and other disciplines to ensure timely, efficient, and effective patient care.
- Promote evidence-based practices and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Support the continued development and expansion of critical care services, including CVICU and future Trauma capabilities.
- Maintain accountability for nursing standards, documentation, regulatory requirements, patient outcomes, and overall unit performance.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Active Registered Nurse license or ability to obtain appropriate Tennessee RN licensure.
- 3–5+ years of recent Critical Care Nurse Management experience required.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within an ICU, CCU, CVICU, or similarly complex critical care environment.
- Experience managing nursing staff and day-to-day operations within a 24/7 patient-care environment.
- Strong knowledge of critical care nursing operations, staffing, quality, patient safety, and performance management.
- Demonstrated ability to develop teams, improve performance, and collaborate effectively with physicians and senior nursing leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field.
- CVICU nursing leadership experience.
- Trauma or Trauma Center leadership experience.
- Experience leading a large critical care department or similarly sized nursing team.
- Demonstrated success improving staffing, retention, productivity, quality, or other operational outcomes within critical care.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
