About the role

Responsibilities

  • Round, with particular attention to critical follow-up assessments and plan modifications warranted by changes in patient condition
  • Serve as point of contact for hospital staff and maintain communication with the patient’s family
  • Collaborate with MICU APPs
  • Admit new patients personally as needed
  • Perform and supervise procedures
  • Care for patients during their stay overnight in the MICU
  • Supervise and instruct overnight residents including staffing new resident admissions
  • Respond to emergencies (e.g., Code Blue) in the ICU and elsewhere in the hospital

Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree from an accredited medical school and completed accredited residency program and fellowship for specialist, or equivalent
  • MD-Physician - State Medical Board required license

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
  • Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care
  • Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems
  • Able to perform in a tactful and professional manner
  • Able to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
