Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to clients by meeting basic needs using the treatment strategies and observing and monitoring behaviors.
  • Works supportively with the clinician and coordinator implementing an effective crisis plan.
  • Afford clients following developmentally appropriate group and milieu activities.
  • Maintain client records by ensuring complete and accurate daily shift notes, high intensity/1:1 staffing notes, incident reports, and other written reports as required.
  • Uses good judgment when it comes to client interactions and boundaries.
  • Follows proper behavioral interventions including Safety Care procedures, preventative behavior supports and physical interventions.
  • Adhere with all organization policies, programmatic business rules, and processes.
  • Implement and demonstrate a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach at all times.
  • Collaborate and participate with the treatment team, staff, and families to achieve the desired treatment outcomes.
  • Ensure client safety by identifying, managing, and reporting common safety concerns to supervisor such as: unsafe client behavior (threats directed at self, staff, peers or others), milieu or environmental situational dangers, presence of sharps, and dangerous chemicals, detergents and cleaners.
  • Exhibit appropriate therapeutic affect and behavior.
  • Ensure the environment is clean.
  • Support clients in healthy living by preparing healthy meals and through ensuring that clients and staff eat healthy meals together.
  • Transport clients following safe driving protocols.

Requirements

  • Educational requirement: High school diploma or GED required, associates degree preferred.
  • Certification: Certification as Behavioral Health Professional within 90 days of employment. MHRT-1 certification required within 1 year of hire. Certification as a Certified Residential Medication Aid (CRMA) within 6 months of employment.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Ability to know and perform the protocol in emergency situations. Ability to work with difficult-to-manage youth. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other professionals on behalf of youth and their families. Capacity to develop a professional orientation to child care. Able to relate to children with warmth and understanding, and have the ability to identify the needs and problems of children. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Basic computer skills a must; power, keyboard and mouse functions. Able to develop a positive therapeutic relationship with clients and their families. Ability to transport clients.

$500 sign-on bonus!
