About the role
The Criminal Justice Specialist position is assigned to the Adult Detention Center, the Warrant Room, Court Security and a variety of other specialty units.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the security and safety of the inmates
- Staffs and operates security control rooms
- Maintains accurate counts of detainees
- Performs intake and receipt of inmate property
- Covers visitation for detainees, medical, attorneys or religious services
- Operates Security Electronics System, intercom, radio equipment, computer terminal, telephone and Key control systems
- Ensures the security and safety of facility staff and visitors
- Monitors visitor access to facilities and conducts searches for contraband materials
- Secures facility keys, receives status and incident reports and special instructions from other personnel
- Inspects incoming mail and packages for contraband and often non-permitted items
- Delivers, packages, mail and items to detainees
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Two years of experience in administrative support experience preferred, demonstrated with computer literacy skills in standard software applications
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License
- Maintain GCIC certification
- Frequent exposure to fumes, odors, or airborne particles, excessive noise, communicable disease and confrontational persons
Qualifications
- Must demonstrate the minimum qualifications on the application
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States on an unlimited and unrestricted basis
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must have completed the highest level of education marked on the application
- Must have two to four years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite in a workplace environment
- Must have two to four years of administrative support experience
- Must be currently or previously GCIC certified
- Must not have been employed in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution
- Must not have engaged in or been accused of sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution
- Must have a valid email address included on the application
- Must not have sold, traded or given away illegal drugs
- Must not have used marijuana, hashish or THC in the last 6 months
- Must not have used any illegal drug(s) other than marijuana in the last 6 months
- Must be able to meet shift work requirements
- Must be able to wear a regulation uniform or assigned career clothing
- Must be able to conform to personal appearance standards
