Criminal Defense Attorney (Trial Attorney)

About the role

Mayersohn Law Group, P.A. is seeking a highly experienced Criminal Defense Trial Attorney with a proven record of jury trial success (50+ trials), federal case exposure, and a strong background in prosecution.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead counsel on felony and high-stakes criminal cases
  • Manage cases from intake through resolution with strong follow-through
  • Represent clients in hearings, negotiations, and jury trials
  • Maintain a confident, professional courtroom presence
  • Evaluate cases early to identify risks, strengths, and strategic opportunities
  • Develop tailored, results-oriented defense strategies
  • Leverage prosecutorial insight to anticipate opposing arguments
  • Apply sound judgment in high-pressure legal situations
  • Implement forward-thinking, strategic approaches to case management
  • Draft, review, and file motions, briefs, and legal documents with precision
  • Maintain organized, trial-ready case files
  • Conduct targeted legal research and apply strong analytical reasoning
  • Prepare thoroughly for hearings, depositions, and trial proceedings
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients
  • Provide candid case assessments and manage expectations
  • Collaborate effectively with attorneys and staff while maintaining case ownership
  • Contribute to a solutions-oriented, accountable team environment

Qualifications

  • Several years of criminal defense experience with progressive responsibility
  • Extensive jury trial experience (50+ trials preferred)
  • Federal criminal case experience
  • Active Florida Bar license in good standing
  • Ability to meet or exceed monthly billable hour requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior prosecutorial experience
  • Experience handling post-conviction motions
