Criminal Defense Attorney

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains open cases for activity.
• Reviews open and closed cases for proper recordkeeping and file maintenance.
• Conducts pre-trial discovery.
• Attends hearings, trials before the court, and jury trials.
• Regularly reviews open cases.
• Provides co-counseling support to other attorneys in the Criminal Department.
• Participates in departmental meetings.
• Establishes and maintains positive client relationships.
• Handles occasional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Texas.
• A minimum of 1-2 years relevant legal experience preferred, but new graduates with a strong interest in criminal law are considered.
• Experience handling and negotiating felony offenses.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong strategic thinking and planning abilities.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong work ethic and sense of accountability.
• Excellent attendance record.

Pay

Salary is based on applicant's years of relevant experience.
