About the Role
Mayersohn Law Group, P.A. is seeking a seasoned Criminal Defense & Civil Litigation Trial Attorney with extensive courtroom experience, strong strategic instincts, and the ability to operate independently on complex matters. This senior-level role is primarily focused on high-stakes criminal defense, but also includes handling select civil litigation assignments that support the firm's broader trial practice.
Responsibilities
- Serve as lead counsel on felony, complex, and high-stakes criminal defense matters
- Handle select civil litigation matters, including:
- Motion practice and written advocacy
- Depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
- Discovery strategy and management
- Evidentiary hearings and trial preparation
- Manage cases from intake through resolution with full accountability for strategy, communication, and outcomes
- Develop and execute tailored defense and litigation strategies across criminal and civil matters
- Represent clients in hearings, negotiations, and jury trials
- Draft, review, and argue motions, briefs, and legal filings with precision
- Maintain organized, trial-ready case files and ensure deadlines are consistently met
- Collaborate with internal teams, including paralegals, administrative staff, and firm leadership
- Provide clear, direct communication to clients regarding case status, expectations, and strategy
Requirements
- Extensive criminal defense experience with increasing responsibility and autonomy
- Experience handling civil litigation matters (motions, hearings, depositions, or trial prep)
- 50+ jury trials preferred; significant first-chair experience strongly valued
- Federal criminal case exposure
- Prior prosecutorial experience strongly preferred
- Active Florida Bar license in good standing
- Strong courtroom presence, persuasive advocacy skills, and strategic thinking
- Ability to meet or exceed billable hour expectations
- High level of professionalism, accountability, and client management skills
