Job Summary

Provides advocacy for survivors of sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking, complying with VAWA Federal Campus Security ACT, Title IX regulations, and the Clery Act. Provides advocacy through the criminal justice and judicial process. Helps victims navigate and receive resources, services, and support throughout their academic career.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as point of contact for victims of crime on campus; resource and referral for students, faculty and staff.
  • Provides case management and advocacy for victims of crime through the university processes as well as the judicial and criminal justice process.
  • Utilizes UUPD RMS system for case management.
  • Serves as a resource for victims of crime for the systems of the University (ex: registrar, financial aid academic affairs).
  • Serves on relevant committees, task forces, and development groups on campus and in the community.
  • Consults on the development of current campus policies and procedures on sexual violence in accordance with VAWA, Campus SAVE ACT and other federal and state guidelines.
  • Provides referrals to appropriate campus entities such as counseling and health services to victims of crime.
  • Collaborates with campus and community organizations to meet survivors' needs.
  • Attends hearings and other court proceedings with victims of crime.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
  • Two years' experience providing direct service case management and crisis intervention for survivors of sexual assault and/or interpersonal violence.
  • Utah State Certified Victim Advocate (40 Hour Trained).
  • In-depth knowledge of current literature and best practices regarding sexual assault and inter-personal violence.
  • Excellent writing and professional speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students and administrators on sensitive topics.

Priorities

  • Master's degree (MSW or related field), working knowledge of federal regulations related to campus (VAWA, Title IX, Campus Security ACT), grant writing experience, and student affairs experience are preferred.
  • Previous experience with advocacy in law enforcement.
  • Experience working with an RMS system (Spillman).
  • Previous supervisory experience.

Work Schedule Summary: Schedule is to be determined, depending on department needs. Schedule may include Monday-Friday afternoons, with paid on call and overtime shifts as needed. Weekends and holidays may be required.
