Crew Leader (Nights)

A Crew Leader coordinates, organizes, and directs the activities of a diverse crew.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for workflow, record keeping, and tools/resources for the assigned area.
• Direct the work of an assigned team of greenhouse employees on greenhouse production (plant on moving line, pick up and space plants, hang baskets).
• Perform plant maintenance, including pruning to maintain good quality of plants.
• Prepare plants for shipping by picking and boxing them.
• Maintain general greenhouse housekeeping and upkeep.
• Act as first point of contact for the assigned crew throughout the day.
• Proactively act and communicate to ensure smooth operations and effective collaboration within the team and other areas.
• Provide effective guidance on how work orders should be read and fulfilled.
• Assist with training and guidance of new and existing crew members.
• Provide feedback to management on employee performance and progress.
• Coach and motivate employees to improve performance or behavior.
• Collaborate with co‑workers and partners in program design and delivery.
• Escalate concerns regarding employee or resource issues to management.
• May drive electric carts and be required to climb ladders.

• Willingness to work evenings, holidays, and occasional weekends as scheduled by Supervisor/Manager.
• Ability to work harmoniously with employees from a variety of backgrounds.
• Physical ability to stand/walk 8+ hours, bend/squat.
• Lift up to 20 pounds (up to 50 pounds for some jobs).
• Push/pull loaded plant carts weighing up to 200 pounds (300 pounds for some jobs).
• Ability to work with small equipment or willingness to learn.
• Adherence to safety policies and procedures (safety‑conscious).
• Adaptability to changing working conditions.
• Pass a pre‑employment background check and drug screen.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum one year experience in greenhouse, nursery operations, horticulture, or a related field.
• Minimum six months of crew lead or supervisory experience.
• Must be able to speak English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
