About the role
The NC State University Facilities Division seeks a Crew Leader I to join our team. This role involves leading impactful projects that help maintain the appearance, safety, and functionality of our campus. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading projects such as power washing, window cleaning, floor care, and other facility upkeep tasks.
- Guiding a dedicated team in completing essential work.
- Coordinating daily operations, prioritizing assignments, and ensuring work is completed efficiently and to high standards.
- Supporting troubleshooting maintenance issues, providing excellent customer service, and addressing customer requests.
- Training new employees and ensuring they understand tasks and safety protocols.
- Transporting employees to various locations for assignments.
- Collaborating with maintenance staff to resolve issues and perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and reaching overhead.
Responsibilities
This position has been designated as essential personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule. Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities.
Qualifications
- Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Demonstrated experience performing housekeeping or facilities maintenance in a university or commercial environment.
- Ability to operate and perform minor repairs on cleaning equipment such as auto-scrubbers, burnishers, and power washers.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to direct, train, and motivate team members.
- Experience with inventory management, supply ordering systems, and timesheet coordination.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Suite (Excel/Sheets, Word/Docs, PowerPoint/Slides).
- Valid driver’s license required, must be able to obtain a valid NC driver’s license within 60 days of hire and maintain it.
