About the role
The position oversees and participates in the manicured mowing, detailed park maintenance, and general street-scraping to maintain a serene environment within the City of College Park.
Responsibilities
- Directs the maintenance crew in their duties and assignments.
- Maintains proper landscape management within the city.
- Trains and evaluates crew members in proper techniques and operations of the job.
- Maintains grass around public buildings, parks, and right-of-ways.
- Operates and maintains equipment such as weed eaters and other grounds maintenance tools.
- Maintains and repairs equipment as needed.
- Led and assists in event coordination and set up as requested.
- Assists other divisions as needed.
- Performs all duties in accordance with safety and security standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Two (2) years of crew leader experience.
- Valid Driver's License issued by the State of Georgia.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of City and department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
- CPR.
- Knowledge of materials commonly used in construction, maintenance, and repair activities.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety standards and practices.
- Ability to operate, maintain, and repair equipment used in Public Works Department, Building & Grounds Division, construction, and maintenance.
- Ability to perform general equipment/tool maintenance duties.
- Ability to interpret instructions and efficiently carry them out with general supervision.
- Effective analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents.
- Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment.
- Dependability.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, initiative, resourcefulness, and personal accountability.
- Moderate physical activity, including handling objects of average-weight up to one hundred (100) pounds, standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day, climbing poles, bending, crouching, or stooping, and using tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguishing between shades of color.
