Crew Lead - Structured Cabling

About the role

The Crew Lead - Structured Cabling acts as the on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects, ensuring job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining staff efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Supervise major project crews and provide necessary training.
• Ensure adherence to company and customer safety and quality guidelines; conduct weekly safety meetings.
• Initiate performance-related communications and escalate issues to the Project Manager as needed.
• Coordinate with Project Manager/Project Lead to ensure productivity, job completion, and compliance with project budget.
• Complete all company and project paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers.
• Perform quality checks; coordinate moves and cut sheets for voice and data cross connects; prepare red-lined as-built drawings.
• Serve as the main on-site customer contact for questions and concerns; attend facility and construction meetings when required.
• Demonstrate technical knowledge; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
• Promote company culture and mission to employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Self-motivated, professional, and capable of creating, developing, and implementing project process improvements.
• Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills; ability to read, write, and deliver oral presentations effectively.
• Ability to act as company liaison for customer representatives.
• Capable of working at heights, off ladders, and in confined spaces; lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
• Able to stand and walk large jobsites regularly.
• Ability to see and distinguish colors, read small print, and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
• Must be able to travel within the branch or regional territory as needed; regular attendance is mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical field.
• Ability to terminate fiber.
• Minimum of six (6) months of supervisory and/or managerial experience.
• Proven skill in interpreting blueprints and project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
• Knowledge of universal communications color codes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
• Must meet company minimum driving standards.

Tools

• Hand tools: screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves.
• Specialty tools: punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt-ohmmeter, 4-pair continuity tester, and 5-gang punch tool.

Pay

Minimum $32.00/year. Maximum $36.00/year.
