Crew Chief

Responsibilities

• Receive work orders, coordinate with the Director and Auditor, and proceed to client's home to perform the prescribed job in a thorough, courteous, expeditious, and safe manner.
• Completes all job-related paperwork.
• Supervise all on-site personnel, organize work assignments, and draw appropriate materials from inventory as needed.
• Ensure all safety rules and regulations are strictly followed on the job site.
• Maintain and properly care for all tools and equipment.
• Oversee the correct application of Weatherization measures, in accordance with the Standard Work Specifications (SWS).
• Willing to train for Weatherization techniques, such as the Minneapolis blower door, digital manometer, combustion appliance zone (CAZ) testing, pressure diagnostics, etc.
• Perform light carpentry/construction work on residential homes.
• Operate hand tools and equipment necessary for the installation of energy conservation measures such as installing high density blown cellulose in sidewalls and attics, replacing windows, and installing air-sealing measures for doors/windows.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year “on-the-job” building construction experience.
• High School Diploma/GED.
• Proven supervisory experience leading staff on the job site.
• Extensive job site experience using basic power tools.
• A valid New York State driver’s license.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse social and economic backgrounds.
• Ability to analyze, evaluate, and solve problems based on appropriate math skills and carpentry experience.
• Experience weatherizing doors, windows, and insulation is helpful.
• Willing to train for air sealing and blowing in cellulose insulation.
• Ability to lift 50 pound tools and equipment.
• Physically able to crawl under, in, and through tight and/or dirty spaces.
• Pull or reach with arms and/or hands, crouch, bend or kneel, climb stairs or ladders.
• Ability to work from heights no greater than 25 feet.
• Tolerant of exposure to all weather conditions (heat, cold, snow and rain); for periods up to 8 hours.
• Above average organizational and communication skills, ability to work independently, good interpersonal skills, and ability to maintain a positive attitude.
