About the role
As a Crematory Operator, you will ensure that remains are correctly received, processed, and returned to the family. You may also assist with transporting the deceased from nursing homes, hospitals, residences, or coroner's offices to the funeral home. As a representative of the funeral home, you must maintain composure in challenging situations with compassion and kindness.
Responsibilities
- Care for the deceased respectfully while performing all tasks involved in the cremation process
- Maintain the crematorium, equipment, and adjacent facilities
- Receive remains and ensure all documentation is complete and visual identification of the deceased is accurate
- Receive instructions for multiple tasks, determine the ideal order, and complete them promptly
- Promote a safe work environment by practicing universal precautions and safe conduct
- Deliver and release cremated remains to the appropriate funeral home or family member
Requirements
- At least 21 years old
- Able to safely lift 100 lbs
- Valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Effective communication skills and high levels of compassion and integrity
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent follow-up skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Qualifications
- Crematory operator certification is preferred
