About the role

The Credit Risk Review Manager directs and manages a team of credit risk review analysts to ensure loans are in compliance with bank lending policies and risk guidelines. This position provides guidance and input on highly complex, high value reviews and contributes to strategic decisions that affect this functional area.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the continuous independent review of loans and commitments, including analysis of borrower financial statements, collateral valuations, and repayment capacity for risk grading, determination of degree of attention required, identification of potential weaknesses or emerging risks, and conformity with Bank policies and regulatory directives.
  • Review reports regarding quality and trends in the Bank’s loan portfolio.
  • Provide credit risk management and regulatory input.
  • Conduct workout credit discussions and Credit Policy issues with managerial personnel.
  • Review major and complex loans and report exposures to management.
  • Maintain ongoing credit risk oversight of existing major adversely graded credits.
  • Conduct Loan Quality Reviews to ensure consistency and uniformity of reporting.
  • Advise management by providing appropriate recommendations and solutions.
  • Build and sustain meaningful relationships with Credit and Lending staff as well as key members of Bank Management.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, and Risk Management to address identified issues and strengthen credit processes.
  • Perform the job in accordance with applicable industry laws and regulations as well as the policies and procedures established by the company.
  • Uphold Fair and Responsible Banking practices and Code of Ethics and Conduct guidelines.
  • Understand and participate in the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of experience working in financial institutions or regulatory supervisory institutions.
  • Three or more years of experience managing staff.
  • Working knowledge as a commercial credit expert in CRE and General C&I, with additional experience with more complex product types such as SBA lending, leverage finance, agriculture, warehouse lending, etc.
  • Sound understanding of credit processes, such as commercial loan origination and underwriting; credit policies; portfolio management, allowance for loan and lease losses; loan review and remediation.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state banking laws related to credit risk.
  • Knowledge of risk ratings, risk rating methodology, and credit scorecards.
  • Ability to write and present clear and concise reports to provide meaningful recommendations to customers.

Working Conditions

The physical demands of this position require the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Employees may spend extended periods sitting or standing, using hands to operate computers or other equipment, and reaching for work-related tasks. Regular walking may be required, along with occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, or climbing. The role may involve lifting or moving items weighing up to 10 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay

$115,000 to $135,000 per year, depending on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and location.
