About the Role

The Credit Risk Analyst Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and continuously enhancing the Credit Union's portfolio risk analytics, delinquency reporting, CECL data inputs, and performance monitoring framework. This position serves as the organization's subject matter expert for consumer, real estate, business, and commercial credit performance analytics. The role owns the production, accuracy, and ongoing enhancement of portfolio performance reporting, providing timely and actionable insights that support executive decision-making, loss mitigation strategies, underwriting improvements, and balance sheet optimization. Success in this role requires a high degree of analytical capability, attention to detail, accountability, and independent execution.

Principal Accountabilities

Credit Risk Analytics

  • Own the Credit Union's monthly portfolio performance reporting process.
  • Monitor and report delinquency trends across all lending portfolios.
  • Produce monthly delinquency dashboards and executive reporting.
  • Analyze roll rates, cure rates, charge-offs, recoveries, payment behavior, and portfolio migration.
  • Identify emerging credit trends, concentrations, and performance deterioration.
  • Develop recommendations to improve portfolio quality and reduce losses.

Portfolio Stratification & Performance Analysis

  • Complete monthly stratification analysis across all loan portfolios, including: product type, credit score (FICO), loan-to-value (LTV), debt-to-income (DTI), loan vintage, dealer, geographic region, occupancy, employment segment, and risk grade.
  • Identify the primary drivers of delinquency, loss, and profitability.
  • Recommend underwriting, pricing, and portfolio management changes based on analytical findings.

Delinquency & Vintage Curve Management

  • Maintain and update monthly delinquency curves.
  • Maintain vintage performance analysis for all portfolio segments.
  • Monitor migration by delinquency bucket.
  • Produce trend analysis comparing current portfolio performance against historical expectations.
  • Develop forecasting models to identify emerging credit deterioration.

Peer Benchmarking

  • Produce monthly peer comparison reports utilizing available NCUA, Call Report, and industry benchmarking data.
  • Compare key portfolio performance metrics including: delinquency, net charge-offs, recoveries, yield, growth, and concentration.
  • Identify opportunities where the Credit Union materially outperforms or underperforms peers.

CECL Analytics

  • Prepare and maintain monthly CECL analytical inputs.
  • Update reserve assumptions for new and existing portfolio vintages.
  • Validate data integrity supporting CECL calculations.
  • Perform sensitivity analyses and portfolio loss forecasting.
  • Partner with Finance to support reserve adequacy and allowance methodology.

Loss Mitigation Analytics

  • Develop reporting supporting collections and recovery strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce: early-stage delinquency, voluntary surrenders, charge-offs, bankruptcy losses, and repossession losses.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of collection strategies and recommend improvements.
  • Develop predictive analytics supporting early intervention efforts.

Executive Reporting

  • Prepare recurring executive dashboards.
  • Develop Board-level portfolio performance reporting.
  • Produce quarterly portfolio risk reviews.
  • Support ALCO, Loan Committee, and Executive Leadership reporting.

Continuous Improvement

  • Improve reporting automation.
  • Develop AI-enabled analytical capabilities where appropriate.
  • Eliminate manual reporting through workflow optimization.
  • Continuously enhance data quality, reporting accuracy, and analytical capabilities.
  • Perform additional analytical assignments and special projects as directed.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in credit risk analytics, portfolio management, CECL, or lending analytics within a financial institution.
  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Strong knowledge of consumer and commercial lending.
  • Experience with portfolio segmentation and performance analytics.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Experience working with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Credit union experience.
  • Experience with CECL modeling.
  • Knowledge of AI-enabled analytics.
  • Experience with predictive modeling and statistical analysis.
  • Familiarity with lending platforms, business intelligence tools, and data warehouse environments.

Working Conditions

This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation is required:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a minimum of 75% of the time
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machines
  • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs
  • Constantly positions self in work environment
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with peers, supervisors, vendors, and employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions
  • Must be able to detect objects at a distance
  • On occasion will move up to 20 pounds of office objects
  • Works in an indoor office environment but expected to attend meetings in buildings that require travel in outdoor weather conditions

Pay & Schedule

  • Salary Range: $91,536.68 - $110,285.16 depending on experience
  • Bonus Target: 8% potential incentive of base pay
  • Employment Type: Exempt, Salaried, Full Time, Hybrid
  • Reports to: VP, Credit Administration
