About the role

This position oversees the credit process and makes decisions on loan requests within a defined lending authority. It involves managing credit exposure for both new and existing relationships across CRE and C&I verticals. Key responsibilities include reviewing and underwriting loan requests, maintaining credit quality standards, responding to credit requests, coaching and training underwriters, and ensuring compliance with policies.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, underwrites, and makes decisions on loan requests within stated lending authority.
  • Maintains credit quality standards adhering to Corporate Policies and the bank's credit culture.
  • Responds promptly to credit requests to determine feasibility and conduct necessary analysis.
  • Assumes responsibility for coaching, mentoring, and training underwriters and deal teams.
  • Supports deal teams in structuring and delivering credit products to meet client needs.
  • Works with commercial bankers and underwriters to manage analysis and documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with credit policy and appropriate reporting.
  • Manages the portfolio in accordance with regional and corporate risk profiles.
  • Identifies critical issues and proposes alternative structures and financing solutions.
  • Clears conditions of approval or unresolved issues with clients or prospects.
  • Demonstrates credit judgment and assesses credit risk exposure.
  • Provides technical advice and assistance to relationship managers.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with all bank employees.
  • Works independently and collaborates with the Senior Credit Officer.
  • Participates in management or committee meetings as needed.
  • Solicits new business opportunities and engages in community or service activities.

Requirements

Requires a four-year degree or equivalent. More than ten years of general experience, with five to ten years of specialized experience in Commercial Banking and Credit Underwriting preferred. Must have a working knowledge of loan documentation, collateral perfection requirements, including security agreements, UCC, and mortgages.

Qualifications

Must possess excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required. Must be able to operate a keypad device 80-90% of the day, electronic equipment 10-20% of the day, travel 20-30%, and stand/walk/sit for extended periods.

Skills

Strong credit judgment, portfolio management, and compliance expertise are essential. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Proficient in using loan documentation tools and understanding collateral perfection requirements.

$75,000.00 - $184,800.00

Schedule

Monday - Friday 8AM-5PM (Additional hours as necessary to meet the objectives of the department)
