Credit Business Adjunct (Summer and Fall 2026)

About the Role

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. We are currently seeking adjunct faculty members to teach in Business Administration and Management.

Responsibilities

• Effectively plan and teach courses in a classroom environment
• Demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication
• Maintain consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success in the online teaching environment
• Teach in a variety of modalities including virtually
• Complete Growing with Canvas and TOPS 2.2 prior to teaching
• May be required to perform other duties as assigned
• May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in the specific discipline (official transcripts will be required prior to final offer)
• Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication
• Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success
• Technology capability (access to WIFI, computers) to teach remotely
• Ability to teach in a variety of modalities including virtually
• Demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development in virtual education

Additional Considerations

• Two years teaching experience
• Work experience in the field
• Experience with on-line teaching
• Substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses in both the synchronous and asynchronous learning environments at a regionally accredited institution

Pay

$836-$1,737 per credit hour

Schedule

Hours will vary between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm depending on availability and scheduling needs. You may be expected to travel to all campus locations.

This wide salary range reflects the diverse faculty ranks within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Final salary determination and placement within this range are based on the candidate's academic credentials and occupational experience as evaluated via the VCCS-10 process.
