Credit Analyst (Japanese bilingual)
About the Role
This team supports Japanese corporate clients doing business in the Americas. You will focus on credit risk management, working with Account Officers to service the Bank’s corporate client base. Responsibilities include developing and analyzing credit information, preparing documentation, and making recommendations. You will also assist in relationship management and promotion of non-credit business as required.
Responsibilities
- Financial statement analysis of borrowers and their parent companies.
- Preparation of credit applications, including new applications, renewals, amendments, and extensions.
- Preparation of applications for non-credit business (e.g., fee waivers, daylight overdrafts).
- Credit rating for borrowers and facilities.
- Credit monitoring, including covenant checks and asset quality assessment.
- Relationship management and promotion of non-credit business with clients.
- Information gathering on clients’ business, industries, and market competitors.
- Correspondence with clients to address requests and inquiries.
- Coordination with other Mizuho offices to exchange strategic and operational information.
- Maintenance and updating of credit files.
- Preparation for regulatory examinations and internal/external audits.
- Preparation of credit and non-credit business documents.
- Arrangement of business meetings with clients.
- Other duties as assigned by managers.
Compliance Responsibilities
- Obtain a basic understanding of applicable banking rules and regulations.
- Direct questions about rules and regulations to the Legal & Compliance Department.
- Attend annual compliance training.
- Read and respond to compliance-related materials as necessary.
- Comply with the Bank’s Code of Conduct.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics.
- Prior experience in banking, rating agencies, or other financial institutions preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English (required).
- Experience in financial statements, cash flow, or credit analysis highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S.

Pay
The expected base salary ranges from $85,000 to $100,000. Offers are based on skills, training, experience, education, certifications, and market/organizational factors. Successful candidates are eligible for a discretionary bonus.
Schedule
Mizuho offers a hybrid working program with varying opportunities for remote work, depending on role, department needs, and local laws. Some roles may require greater in-office presence, which will be communicated during recruitment.
