Credit Analyst III

About the Role

As a Credit Analyst at Bank Iowa, you will analyze loan requests, establish standards, and manage the submission and completion process for commercial loan requests bank-wide, generally in excess of $500M of total commitments. This role involves analyzing complex commercial loan requests, identifying strengths and weaknesses, providing recommendations for loan structure and monitoring, and noting any deviations from loan policy. You will also report on the ongoing status of submissions in the commercial credit request queue.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain submission standards for the commercial credit underwriting department.
• Maintain the bank-wide commercial credit underwriting queue, ensuring timely completion of all requests.
• Read and comprehend complex accounting and financial transactions necessary for analyzing commercial credit requests.
• Evaluate and spread client financial information within Lending Cloud, the bank’s analytical and spreading platform.
• Analyze and comment on client financial information as it relates to performance, efficiency, and trends, including:
  • Balance sheets
  • Income statements
  • Tax returns and supplemental schedules (e.g., accounts receivable agings, accounts payable agings, rent rolls, and other common accounting information)
• Calculate risk ratings based on available financial information.
• Provide recommendations for industry-standard loan covenants, tracking mechanisms, reporting quality, and frequency based on available information.
• Prepare credit presentations for commercial credit requests, serving as the basis for bank-wide approval processes.
• Document known exceptions to loan policy within credit presentations.
• Protect the confidentiality of customers, other employees, and work.
• Interact respectfully and constructively with internal clients (loan officer staff) and external clients as directed.
• Provide guidance and recommendations to loan officer staff in a professional manner consistent with high-quality client service standards.
• Mentor and train credit analyst staff, providing personal development feedback.
• Represent the bank in interactions with clients and other professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or other applicable majors.
• 4-6 years' experience as a Commercial Credit Analyst or comparable role.
• Experience using Moody’s Lending Cloud is ideal.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong financial and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with typical work hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
