About the role

The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for the entire initial credentialing and privileging process and reappointment process for all new medical staff and allied health professional applicants to ensure the highest quality patient care at Cooper University Health Care.

The position collaborates with the Director Medical Staff Services to ensure compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, Joint Commission Standards, and other regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the entire initial credentialing and privileging process and reappointment process for all new medical staff and allied health professional applicants.
  • Collaborate with the Director Medical Staff Services to ensure compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, Joint Commission Standards, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Prioritize and accomplish tasks with resourcefulness, good judgment, self-sufficiency, and good organizational skills.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in medical staff services with duties that involved medical staff and allied health credentialing.
  • Managed care or other healthcare environment preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills especially Microsoft products (Word, Excel); data entry accuracy critical.
  • Excellent/professional communication skills.
  • Strong time management, customer service, organization and analytical skills.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) preferred.
