About the Role

As an Unarmed Security Officer, you will be part of a highly trained security team supporting critical facilities and infrastructure, public venues requiring an enhanced presence, and personal protective services. This role is integral to the broad spectrum of specialized security services Inter-Con provides its clients daily.

As a Credentialing Office Specialist (COS) at JFK, LGA, or EWR, you will report to the Tour Supervisor or Contractor designee. You will assist Port Authority staff with issuing Airport ID Cards to authorized employees and perform related security and administrative duties.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Port Authority staff with the issuance of Airport ID Cards to authorized employees at JFK, LGA, and EWR.
  • Verify the authenticity of identity documents.
  • Print and create Airport ID Cards only after approval from the Manager.
  • Follow Port Authority procedures for ID Card processing and issuance.
  • Review all security identification applications for appropriate written documentation as per Port Authority Authorized Signatory guidelines.
  • Perform fingerprinting.
  • Operate computer equipment and specialized software.
  • Maintain a current list of all active Airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) trainers and assist them as required by the Manager.
  • Verify all SIDA certificates.
  • Assist other contract trainers in the preparation and follow-ups for SIDA courses at JFK and EWR.
  • Handle administrative tasks as required by the Manager.
  • Observe and report suspicious activity and behavior to the Port Authority Police Department (PAPD).
  • Protect assigned areas and enforce rules and regulations set forth by the Port Authority.
  • Familiarize yourself with all Credentialing Office orders.
  • Report breaches, fires, or other emergencies to PAPD immediately.
  • Maintain an operationally efficient post and assist individuals requiring information or help, provided it does not distract from security duties.
  • Supervise and ensure compliance with Port Authority and federal rules regarding identification of personnel and vehicles accessing the Airport Operations Area (AOA).
  • Report unauthorized individuals attempting or gaining access to the facility without required authorization to PAPD immediately.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of all areas at designated times to ensure security and safety.
  • Report unclaimed or unattended property to PAPD.
  • Make full reports to supervisors of all unusual circumstances.
  • Perform normal and additional assigned job duties during emergencies.
  • Conduct phone call verification as part of the application review process.
  • Report hazardous conditions (e.g., ice, snow, defective lighting, broken gates, alarms) to appropriate parties.
  • Assist PAPD by rendering aid to persons in public areas until medical assistance arrives.
  • Respond to and assist in emergencies involving fires, explosions, bomb threats, floods, crowd control, and other unspecified situations.
  • Report vehicle and patron accidents to PAPD and prepare handwritten reports as required.
  • Maintain a log of activity during the tour, noting unusual incidents or activity.
  • Report for duty 30 minutes prior to assigned tours and stand roll call unless directed otherwise by the Manager.
  • Perform all other specific responsibilities and duties as required by the Manager.
  • Remain on post at all times during scheduled hours; the post shall not be unoccupied unless properly relieved or secured in a Port Authority-approved manner.
  • Dress in uniform at all times while on duty.

Requirements

  • Only staff approved by the Manager and fully trained may perform the function of Credentialing Office Specialist (COS).
  • Must meet all requirements outlined in the Statement of Work (SOW) under “Tours of Duty” (Section 8).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, demonstrated through a computer-based administered test. The Contractor shall recommend the testing vendor, subject to Port Authority approval.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and operating systems.
  • Must not use personal cell/wireless telephone or communication devices while on post except as approved by the Manager.
  • Must remain on post at all times as specified.
  • Must meet all requirements for the position of Airport Security Agent.
  • Relief personnel may be needed for this position.
