Credentialed SPED Tutor - Foundational Literacy & Reading

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you'll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Venice, CA! Details: In-Person Tutoring in Venice, CA Schedule: 10 hours per month; 2 days a week for 1.25 hoursRate is between $25 and $35 per hour Ideal Candidate: Teaching credential requiredExperience working with elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or learning differencesStrong background in foundational literacy, including phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, and early reading skillsExperience supporting students performing below grade level in reading and writingStrong understanding of reading fluency, reading comprehension, and written expressionFamiliarity with auditory processing difficulties and strategies for supporting students who have difficulty processing and retaining verbal informationSkilled in using multisensory, visual, hands-on, and interactive teaching strategiesPatient, encouraging, and adaptable teaching styleAble to break down academic concepts into small, manageable steps and provide repetition as neededStrong ability to build rapport and keep students motivated and actively engagedComfortable supporting verbal expression and communication through structured discussion and interactive activitiesAble to adjust instruction based on the student's learning pace, strengths, and individual needs Key Responsibilities: Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy, reading, writing, and verbal expressionBuild phonemic awareness through engaging and multisensory activitiesProvide explicit phonics instruction and support decoding and word-reading skillsImprove reading fluency through guided reading, repeated reading, and targeted practiceSupport reading comprehension by teaching strategies for understanding, recalling, and discussing textDevelop written expression skills, including sentence formation, organization, vocabulary, and communicating ideas in writingReinforce verbal expression through conversation, questioning, retelling, and structured communication activitiesUse visual aids, manipulatives, movement, and interactive activities to reinforce learningProvide repetition and frequent comprehension checks to support auditory processing needsBreak down instructions and academic tasks into clear, manageable stepsMonitor progress and adjust lessons based on the student's response and developing skillsIncorporate the student's interests and preferred learning styles to make sessions engaging and motivatingBuild academic confidence through positive reinforcement, encouragement, and consistent supportCollaborate with the student's existing support team and align instruction with current academic goals when appropriate Why Tutor Me Education?
