Creative Writing Tutor

About the role

The Theatre Chipping Norton is seeking an experienced Creative Writing Tutor to lead two adult writing groups.

Responsibilities

• Deliver blocks of sessions over 10-14 weeks, meeting on Mondays from 10:30am – 12:30pm and 1pm – 3pm, and potentially on Wednesday evenings from 7pm – 9pm.
• Encourage and inspire members during sessions and through homework exercises.
• Promote opportunities for writing competitions and possible publication.
• Deliver writing exercises and offer insights and advice on different forms, genres, and styles of writing.
• Encourage students to critique each other’s work in a positive and constructive manner.

Requirements

• Published writer (ideally), but excellent teaching skills are more important than being widely published.
• A warm and supportive approach, with a good sense of humour.

Qualifications

• Experience leading adult writing groups.
• Ability to deliver structured yet relaxed and informal sessions.

Skills

• Excellent communication and teaching skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire adult learners.
• Knowledge of different forms, genres, and styles of writing.
• Ability to facilitate group critiques in a constructive manner.
