About the role

The Creative Content Specialist tells the story of VCU Athletics by shooting, editing, and creating videos and content, as well as providing photography as needed. This position primarily focuses on Olympic sports while assisting with men’s and women’s basketball. The role also supports VCU Sports Properties in executing revenue-generating videos and social media content.

Reporting to the Associate AD for External Operations, the specialist works to further VCU Athletics’ mission to win championships, provide a first-class student-athlete experience, and cultivate leaders. Collaboration with VCU Enterprise Marketing and Communications ensures alignment with institutional priorities and brand standards.

Responsibilities

  • Video Content Creation/Editing (65%)
    • Create and edit video content, including highlights, intro videos, special features, season previews, video board content, and other projects.
    • Shoot at games to compile b-roll for Olympic sports and basketball events.
    • Work closely with Marketing, Communications, the Ram Athletic Fund, VCU Sports Properties, and coaches to grow the VCU Athletics brand through video content.
    • Proactively produce content aligned with current trends.
  • Photography (25%)
    • Take and edit photos for VCU Athletics events, including games, practices, Ram Athletic Fund events, SASS events, and others.
    • Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, the Ram Athletic Fund, VCU Sports Properties, and coaches to capture photos as needed.
  • Video/Creative Administration (10%)
    • Perform duties related to video, photography, and technology administration in consultation with the Associate AD for External Operations.
    • Collaborate with marketing staff, video production manager, communications department, and coaches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in video streaming and live production.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with diverse faculty, staff, and students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or equivalent training and work experience.

$45,000
