Winona Lighting, a longtime manufacturer in Winona, is expected to permanently close its facility by the end of the year, resulting in the layoff of approximately 86 employees. The closure follows Acuity Brands Lighting’s submission of a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice, with layoffs anticipated on or about November 30, 2026, or within 30 days of that date.
Founded in the 1960s as a small architectural-lighting manufacturer serving Upper Midwest commercial builders, Winona Lighting grew into a nationally recognized producer of decorative and architectural fixtures. Acquired by Acuity Brands in 2011, the Winona product lines were integrated into Acuity’s broader commercial and industrial lighting portfolio.
