About the role
The CRE Portfolio Manager I services, deepens, and retains assigned profitable customer relationships by proactively evaluating and mitigating associated business risks and opportunities, following established Huntington policies, procedures, and Guiding Principles within the CRE organization.
Responsibilities
- Owns primary responsibility for the credit and monitoring of Commercial portfolio risks, including underwriting quality, portfolio administration, and credit quality of assigned portfolio.
- Works directly with the Team Leader, Regional Commercial Management, and Regional Credit Officer to manage portfolio risks.
- Assists in optimizing customer relationships by collaborating with Relationship Managers, Treasury Management, and other team members to grow fees, deposits, and portfolio revenue through practical financial solutions.
- Manages delinquencies, collateral exceptions, borrowing base, portfolio reviews, specialized reporting, soft exposure annual reviews, and criticized loans.
- Manages a portfolio of commercial customers in partnership with the Relationship Manager, maintaining regular contact and a visible role in customer relationships.
- Owns primary responsibility for the credit quality and monitoring of Commercial portfolio risks, including risk rating new credits and updating risk grades.
- Works directly with the Team Leader, Relationship Managers, Regional CRE Management, and Regional Credit Officer on loan closings and credit actions.
- Effectively presents proposed credit actions in written analysis and verbally to Senior Loan Committee.
- Conducts portfolio reviews with senior management.
- Functions in a team environment, collaborating with teams outside of direct reporting lines and participating in special projects.
- Works with and mentors Credit Analysts to develop required competencies and experience.
- Prioritizes work to meet customer expectations.
- Analyzes the existing portfolio to identify trends and opportunities.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of market and industry trends.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or demonstrated knowledge and expertise.
- 1+ year of Commercial credit experience.
- 3+ years of Portfolio Manager and/or credit analysis experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Product Knowledge: Knowledgeable about various commercial cross-sell products with credit exposure, including foreign exchange, commodities, interest rate derivatives, treasury management, and commercial cards.
- Technology: Effective utilization of IT systems supporting the Commercial Segment, such as CLOS, PMTS, MAX, CARS, MS Office Suite, RETS, AFS, etc.
- Commercial Real Estate (CRE) experience.
Workplace Type
This is an office-based role with a flexible work arrangement combining in-office and work-from-home opportunities. Specific arrangements will be provided by the hiring team.
Exempt status: Yes (not eligible for overtime pay).
