Actalent is seeking a Research Coordinator to support the successful implementation of clinical research studies. This role assists investigators, research associates, and project managers with participant recruitment, data collection, data management, and reporting of results. Ideal for a tech-savvy professional with clinical research exposure and an interest in developing a long-term career in clinical research trials.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and consent research participants in accordance with study protocols and ethical guidelines.
  • Conduct telephone and in-person interviews with potential and enrolled participants, including screening for eligibility.
  • Perform follow-up with study participants by telephone, email, and mail to maintain engagement and collect ongoing data.
  • Prepare, mail, and process questionnaires and other study-related correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in tracking study participants and visit schedules using MS Excel and other tracking tools.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and organized records and files of all study-related work and participant interactions.
  • Review, edit, clean, and enter participant data into electronic databases (including EDC systems) to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Conduct chart reviews using EMR systems to identify eligible participants and collect relevant clinical information.
  • Support literature reviews for proposal submissions and manuscript preparation as needed.
  • Perform basic bookkeeping tasks related to study budgets, including ordering supplies and requesting checks for payments and participant incentives.
  • Carry out miscellaneous administrative tasks such as typing labels, copying, faxing, preparing meeting materials, taking notes, and transcribing audio files.
  • Contribute to clinical research trial activities while adhering to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED).
  • At least 6 months of clinical research experience.
  • Experience with chart review and patient recruitment in a clinical or research setting.
  • Proficiency with electronic data capture (EDC) systems and electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Understanding of clinical research processes and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles.
  • Background in the medical field, such as experience with phlebotomy.
  • Strong data entry skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to use MS Excel to track study participants and manage basic data.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to learn and use research-related software and tools.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with participants via phone, email, mail, and in person.
  • Organizational skills to maintain detailed records, files, and study documentation.

Additional Qualifications

  • Interest in growing and developing a career in clinical research.
  • Experience working with vaccines or vaccine-related clinical research.
  • Ability to assist with literature reviews for proposals and manuscripts.
  • Comfort with administrative tasks such as copying, faxing, label creation, meeting preparation, and note-taking.
  • Capability to support basic budget-related activities, including ordering supplies and processing participant incentives.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Hickory, NC, with work scheduled five days per week at a clinical research facility. The environment involves active participation in clinical research trials for a major healthcare provider, including frequent interaction with patients and healthcare professionals. Work is primarily performed in an office and clinical setting using computers, electronic data capture systems, and electronic medical records, with regular use of MS Excel and other standard office software. The role may involve handling clinical documents, performing chart reviews, and supporting study visits. Professional attire appropriate for a healthcare and research environment is expected.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
