Craft Fellow (Weaving)
About the role
This is a 90-day temporary position. Fellows will support production work within their assigned craft area for approximately 80% of their paid time. They will also be responsible for contributing to new product design and prototyping, completing a capstone project, and participating in daily/weekly shop upkeep.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic machine maintenance and set up for the assigned craft area
- Prepare transfer/sales sheets and communicate with Student Crafts’ Distribution Center
- Mentor and provide technical support for Student Labor
- Assist with marketing/sales planning for assigned craft area and craft organization as a whole
- Contribute to daily/weekly shop upkeep
- Participate in new product design and prototyping
- Complete a capstone project
Requirements
- Education: H.S. Diploma required
- Experience: 2 years of applicable experience in the craft
- Special skills/knowledge: Basic familiarity with weaving tools and techniques, basic familiarity with sewing and sewing machines
- License/Certification: Required background check

Skills
Ability to lift 25 lbs, sit or stand for extended periods of time, assist in moving floor looms and equipment, perform repetitive body movements, wear PPE, navigate campus/public buildings and grounds, work safely within a noisy, dusty, and linty environment, operate common tools and machinery used in weaving and fiber art.
