Opportunity
We are looking for a passionate, dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our College Park team. Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver developmentally appropriate, play-based lesson plans aligned to Maryland's Early Learning Standards
Create a rich, print-rich, and language-rich classroom environment that sparks curiosity and joy
Integrate literacy, numeracy, social-emotional learning, and the arts into daily instruction
Use observation and formative assessment to track each child's developmental progress
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including children with IEPs or developmental delays
Utilize inquiry-based and project-based learning approaches to foster critical thinking
Classroom Culture & Environment
Build a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom community grounded in Responsive Classroom principles
Establish consistent routines and structures that help young children feel secure and ready to learn
Maintain a clean, organized, and visually stimulating classroom environment
Implement positive behavior support strategies with patience and consistency
Apply trauma-informed practices in all interactions with children
Family & Community Engagement
Communicate regularly and warmly with families through daily check-ins, newsletters, and conferences
Involve families as active partners in their child's learning and development
Maintain open, respectful, and culturally responsive relationships with all caregivers
Participate in family events, orientations, and school-wide activities
Collaboration & Teamwork
Partner with teaching assistants, clinicians, and support staff to deliver integrated services
Participate actively in team meetings, planning sessions, and professional development
Collaborate with special education staff to support children with IEPs and ensure accommodations are implemented
Contribute to a positive, mission-aligned school community
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate records including attendance, developmental progress notes, incident reports, and family communications
Complete required documentation in a thorough and timely manner in compliance with Maryland licensing and regulatory standards
Support portfolio development and authentic assessment practices for each student
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (or actively pursuing)
Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with preschool-age children (ages 3–5)
Knowledge of Maryland Early Learning Standards and developmentally appropriate practice
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Valid Maryland criminal background clearance
Preferred
Experience working with children with developmental delays, IEPs, or trauma histories
Familiarity with Responsive Classroom, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) frameworks, or PBIS
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Experience in a therapeutic or inclusive early childhood setting
