Responsibilities
- Bags groceries at check-out for customers
- Ensures contents or items are not damaged while bagging at least five items per customer
- Fulfills best practices for bagging items in various types of bags (reusable/plastic/paper)
- Aids customers in removing merchandise from bottom of bascarts for checkout
- Offers to help customers with loading bags into their cars
- Performs basic shelf conditioning
- Informs customers of grocery specials
- Restores returned merchandise to store shelves
- Gathers bascarts and returns them to designated areas
- Cleans spills, collects, and picks up trash inside store and parking lot
- Cleans all areas inside and outside of store
- Handles and assembles seasonal merchandise
- Understands the store's layout, locates products, and conducts price checks for cashiers
- Enforces safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues
- Adheres to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Performs preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair
- Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store
Qualifications
- Customer Service skills
- Effective communication skills
- Previous retail experience is preferred but not required

The role involves assisting customers with their shopping experience, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and adhering to safety and food safety regulations. Associates are expected to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment, manage conflicts in a non-confrontational manner, and adhere to company policies and local, state, and federal laws.
