About the role

Baker’s, now part of The Kroger Company, seeks a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger to join our team in Omaha, Nebraska.

Responsibilities

• Bag groceries at check-out for customers
• Ensure at least five items per bag, avoiding damage to contents
• Bag items in various types of bags (reusable, plastic, paper)
• Avoid placing customer's merchandise at the bottom of the basket for checkout
• Offer assistance with loading bags into cars
• Perform basic shelf conditioning
• Inform customers of grocery specials
• Return merchandise to store shelves
• Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas
• Clean spills, collect, and pick up trash inside the store and parking lot
• Clean all areas inside and outside of the store
• Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise
• Understand the store's layout and conduct price checks for cashiers
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate departments or store managers of any items needing repair
• Create a welcoming environment by answering questions about products sold within the department and throughout the store
• Manage conflict in a cooperative manner
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues
• Support and assist through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults

Qualifications

• Customer service skills
• Effective communication skills
• Previous retail experience is preferred but not required
