Responsibilities

• Bag groceries at check-out for customers
• Ensure at least five items per bag and prevent damage to contents
• Bag items in various types of bags (reusable, plastic, paper)
• Aid customers in removing merchandise from bascarts for checkout
• Offer assistance with loading bags into cars
• Perform basic shelf conditioning
• Inform customers about grocery specials
• Return merchandise to store shelves
• Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas
• Clean spills, collect, and pick up trash inside and outside the store
• Clean all areas inside and outside the store
• Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise
• Understand the store's layout and locate products for cashiers
• Conduct price checks for cashiers
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions
• Identify and report accidents or issues to store management
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate departments or store managers of any items needing repair
• Create a welcoming environment for customers
• Answer questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store
• Follow all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults

• Effective communication skills
• Previous retail experience is preferred but not required
