About the role

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented individual with field supervision and administrative experience to join the Office of Probation Services, Intensive Supervision Program (ISP) in the Southern Regional Office (Cherry Hill, NJ). The ISP is designed to supervise and treat adult inmates and juvenile offenders in the community under strict conditions, offering participants an opportunity to reintegrate while adhering to court-ordered rules.

Under general supervision, the selected individual will perform field supervision of ISP participants, working closely with clients, their families, treatment providers, and community agencies to support rehabilitative goals and ensure compliance with program conditions.

Note: ISP is a statewide program, and management reserves the right to reassign employees based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently to meet organizational and program goals.
  • Maintain and update documentation using computerized systems, databases, electronic files, and spreadsheets.
  • Collaborate with ISP participants, staff, judges, treatment providers, and community agencies.
  • Provide updates on participant progress and gather information from families, treatment facilities, and other stakeholders, as the program operates 24/7.
  • Assist participants in achieving rehabilitative goals, including educational, vocational, treatment, and employment opportunities.
  • Monitor participants for compliance with court orders and ISP conditions, making necessary referrals for assistance.
  • Write assessments, complete progress reports, and provide recommendations or testimony for court.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Court Services Officers work a 40-hour workweek, including nights and weekends. Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.

Remote Work

The Judiciary offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. Participation requires high-speed home internet access and installation of a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and four years of professional experience in casework involving supervising offenders, including:
    • Gathering and analyzing case-related information.
    • Determining client needs.
    • Providing access to social services, therapeutic interventions, or rehabilitative assistance.
    • Preparing reports of findings and recommendations.
  • Substitution options:
    • Additional paraprofessional or professional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis (one year of experience = 30 semester-hour credits).
    • An associate degree with two years of additional paraprofessional or professional experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
    • A master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Degrees conferred outside the U.S. must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service (see www.naces.org/members.html).

Supplemental Information

  • Physical Ability: Some positions require climbing, prolonged standing, stretching, bending, and reaching. Selected candidates may need to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing 30–50 pounds (occasionally up to 75 pounds).
  • Driver’s License: A valid New Jersey driver’s license is required if operating a vehicle is necessary for essential duties.
  • Authorization to Work: U.S. citizenship is not required, but selected candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. per Department of Homeland Security regulations.
  • Background Check: Newly hired employees must consent to a thorough background check, including fingerprinting. Results will remain confidential.
  • Residency Law: Per N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 ("New Jersey First Act"), newly hired employees must establish and maintain principal residency in New Jersey within one year. Exemptions may be requested for hardship or employer critical need.

Pay

The salary range for this position is:

  • Schedule A (Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014): $85,524.23 to $131,244.42.
  • Schedule B (Newly hired individuals and employees hired on or after June 3, 2014): $85,524.23 to $124,682.21.

Newly hired individuals typically start at the minimum salary. Current Judiciary employees receive a 5% base salary increase upon promotion or advancement, not to exceed the maximum of the range or the minimum of the band/level, whichever is greater.
