Job Description
The recruitment is exempt from the hiring freeze (Administrative Order 358). The Department of Public Safety (DPS), Division of Alaska State Troopers, is currently recruiting to fill Court Services Officers (CSO) positions around the state. The salary is dependent upon the location of hire:
- Anchorage = $38.30 per hour
- Juneau = $40.22 per hour
- Bethel = $57.45 per hour
- Dillingham = $52.47 per hour
What You Will Be Doing
Court Services Officers (CSOs) are a unique class of officers who work under the general direction and command of AST. They conduct duties for the Commissioner of Public Safety under AS 22.20.100-140, which includes providing physical security of courtrooms, chambers, and other spaces of the courts including the grounds of court facilities; coordinating and providing prisoner transport; serving court writs; and providing protective details and security for judicial officers.

The Working Conditions You Can Expect
There are multiple positions available in this posting that have unique opportunities. The Juneau Court Services Officer position is based out of the Juneau Courthouse Judicial Services Office. The work environment will consist of region-wide paper service, evictions, and prisoner transports between the Lemon Creek Correctional Center, Anchorage airport, and Southeast Alaska area community jails and villages. In addition, Juneau CSOs routinely conduct out of state fugitive extraditions and courtroom security in Juneau and the outlying Southeast Alaska area courthouses. The Anchorage Court Services position is in downtown Anchorage on the main Alaska Court System campus. The work environment consists of being part of the largest Judicial Services team in the Alaska State Troopers and conducting local and regional prisoner transports, physical site security, writ services, and judiciary protection. Anchorage is the major population center of Alaska and affords easy access to world-class hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation with all the convenience of living in a modern city.
The Bethel Court Services Officer position is located and based full-time out of the Bethel State Trooper Post with frequent work at the Bethel Courthouse. The work environment consists of paper service, prisoner transports between the jail and court, and courtroom security. The work environment is friendly, team-oriented, and productive.
The Dillingham Court Services Officer position is located and based full time out of the Dillingham State Trooper Post with frequent work at the Dillingham Courthouse. The work environment consists of paper service, courtroom security, and prisoner transports between the jail and court, as well as transports between Dillingham/King Salmon and Anchorage. The position will also assist with transports from local villages into Dillingham on small aircraft. The work environment is friendly, team-oriented, and productive.
What We Are Looking For
- 18 years of age or older at the time of hire
- Must possess a high school diploma or have passed a General Education Development (GED) test
- Must be conversant in English (both written and spoken)
- Not disqualified from any portion of a prior formal background investigation conducted for this job classification in the last twelve months
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduation or the equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age or older at time of hire

Additional Required Information
- Initial Physical Fitness Test - All applicants must successfully pass the initial physical fitness test to move forward in the application process. For more information on our fitness test standards, go to alaskastatetrooper.com/hiring-process/. This test can be proctored by an adult at a local gym or at any adequate outdoor or indoor facility. Applicants will submit results via the applicant tracking system when completing their background investigation documents. Passing initial fitness test scores are valid for 6 months.
- Notification of Next Phase - As part of the hiring process, Alaska State Troopers conducts a thorough background investigation of all candidates using a web-based applicant tracking platform to securely collect all required information and documentation. When invited to the online portal, applicants will be required to create a log-in and then follow the applicant instructions. Users will need to use the Chrome web browser on a computer and upload all documents within 15 days of invitation to the portal.
- Documents to Collect to Be Submitted with the Background Packet - Applicants can expect to pay for airfare and lodging while in Anchorage for testing. The upcoming testing weeks are September 14th-18th, 2026, and November 16th-20th, 2026. Please have the following documents in your possession prior to submitting your online application to ensure you meet your deadline. These documents do not need to be uploaded to your online application, but they will be submitted later with the Background Packet. Failure to provide ALL required documents by your deadline will result in your application being eliminated from the process. Instructions for submitting these documents will be furnished after you have completed the online application.
