About the role

The Middlesex Vicinage Civil Division seeks individuals with strong case management, communication, and analytical skills to manage cases from docketing through disposition.

Responsibilities

  • Managing cases from docketing through disposition
  • Analyzing, monitoring, and processing cases in accordance with court rules and established practices
  • Working with Judges and team leaders to set priorities
  • Aiding in creating and maintaining credible trial calendars
  • Organizing workload to ensure efficiency
  • Screwing cases for possible referral to a complementary dispute resolution program
  • Reviewing cases to determine discovery and/or case management needs
  • Monitoring cases to ensure compliance with discovery deadlines and case management orders
  • Responding to inquiries from Judges and attorneys regarding procedures and/or the status of cases
  • Conducting settlement conferences of civil cases
  • Other related duties as required

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree
  • One year of paraprofessional experience in case management involving gathering, reviewing, and verifying case-related information
  • Additional paraprofessional or professional experience on a year-for-year basis may substitute for a bachelor's degree

  • Paraprofessional experience in case management involving gathering, reviewing, and verifying case-related information
  • Experience conducting investigations, monitoring casework flow, interviewing clients or customers for needed information, preparing investigative fact-finding reports, and/or writing case notes or other case-related correspondence

Pay

  • Salary range: $54,434.49 to $89,181.84 for Schedule A, and $54,434.49 to $84,722.75 for Schedule B
  • Starting salary at the minimum of the salary range for newly hired individuals
  • 5% increase in base salary for current Judiciary employees upon promotion or advancement

Schedule

  • Hybrid work schedule with up to 2 days of remote work

Remote Work

  • Up to 2 days of remote work per week
  • Requires high speed home internet access
  • Must install a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree

  • Additional paraprofessional or professional experience on a year-for-year basis may substitute for a bachelor's degree

Supplemental Information

  • Driver's License: Required if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position
  • Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations

  • Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting

Residency Law

  • In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey
