Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform entrance control: Enforce the District's entry and identification system, operate security screening equipment, check items like handbags, briefcases, computers, packages, baby carriages, wheelchairs, etc.
- Perform roving patrol: Patrol court facilities and grounds according to post orders.
- Perform stationary post assignments: Stand guard at posts including monitoring CCTV, duress alarms, and security equipment, courtrooms, judge chambers, and jury rooms.
- Perform escort duties: Provide armed escort services for judges, court personnel, jurors, and others as directed.
- Perform garage parking and pedestrian control: Direct traffic and control lights on court facility properties, as per post orders and standard operating procedures.
- Enforce law and order: Enforce federal law during assigned duties, including detaining unauthorized access attempts, committing acts endangering safety, and unlawful acts.
- Prepare reports and records: Compile reports and records regarding contract performance issues such as labor hours, accidents, fire, bomb threats, unusual incidents, or unlawful acts.
- Court attendance: Secure unattended courtrooms, inspect courtrooms before proceedings, test security devices, and perform other security duties.
- Preserve order: Maintain security presence in the courtroom, enforce federal law and judicial orders, enforce local court rules regarding prohibited items, and protect court proceedings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least three (3) years of verifiable experience as a certified law enforcement officer or equivalent, all three (3) years within the last seven (7) years, including general arrest authority.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; ability to understand, explain, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, directives, and procedures.
- Valid driver's license from state of residency with a safe driving record for the past five years; clearance from the Department of Justice.
- Completed or graduated from certified Federal, state, county, local, or military law enforcement training academy and able to provide certification as proof.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
Physical Demands
- Must meet medical standards as specified by the United States Marshal Service (USMS).
