About the role

The Louisiana Supreme Court seeks a Court Security Officer to provide comprehensive security for its facilities, grounds, judicial personnel, employees, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting security patrols of the Court building, grounds, parking facilities, and perimeter
  • Operating security control systems including CCTV surveillance, electronic access control, alarm monitoring, and card access systems
  • Screwing employees and visitors using magnetometers, hand wands, and VOTI image detection equipment
  • Responding to alarms, emergencies, suspicious activity, disturbances, and other security-related incidents
  • Preparing clear, concise incident reports
  • Providing courtroom security
  • Providing protective details for Justices and judges as assigned
  • Escorting employees working after hours
  • Inspecting facilities for fire hazards and unauthorized access
  • Monitoring parking areas
  • Performing other security-related duties to ensure the safety of Court personnel and visitors

Requirements

  • A minimum of three (3) years of law enforcement experience
  • A valid Louisiana driver's license
  • A clean driving record
  • No felony convictions
  • Ability to successfully pass a background investigation and skills testing
  • Current Louisiana P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards and Training) certification from an accredited Louisiana police academy
  • Additional training, including the U.S. Marshals Service State and Local Court Security Course, may be required

Qualifications

  • Strong investigative, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to prepare accurate reports using proper law enforcement terminology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Outlook
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • The ability to use appropriate force when necessary and operate firearms and other security equipment safely
