About the role
The King County Sheriff's Office is seeking individuals to fill Court Marshal positions. These roles are part of the Technical Services Division (TSD) and operate Monday through Friday, with varying hours at each of the 12 work sites.
Responsibilities
- Man fixed security posts and patrol on foot.
- Make warrant arrests, take defendants into custody on court ordered remands, provide courtroom presence, and respond to a variety of different calls for service.
- Investigate incidents and write case reports.
- Work 8-to-10-hour shifts (not counting overtime).
- Work days are Monday through Friday, starting no earlier than 5:45am and ending no later than 5:15pm.
Requirements
- Must have graduated from a certified law enforcement academy meeting or exceeding Washington State standards and currently possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Washington State Peace Officer Certificate.
- At least 1 year of recent work experience as a fully commissioned Police Officer/Trooper/Deputy Sheriff (with a break in service less than 5 years) OR 4 years of continuous service and currently serving as a reserve police officer (WA State only) with qualification standards and work duties similar to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
- Good verbal skills and experience defusing interpersonal conflicts.
- Able to qualify with a KCSO-issued firearm at least twice a year.
- Able to successfully pass a complete background investigation, including a polygraph exam, psychological evaluation, and a medical exam.
- Must be a United States citizen, Lawful Permanent Resident, or deferred action childhood arrival (DACA) recipient.
- Must have the ability to read, speak, and write in the English language fluently.
Qualifications
- Must be a current US Citizen, DACA recipient, or Lawful Permanent Resident to apply for civil service positions with the King County Sheriff's Office.

$78,899.60 - $86,750.77 annually.
