About the Role
Under the general direction of the Court Executive 2b (Civil Division Manager), this self-directed and results-oriented individual will manage supervisory staff (team leaders). The role involves preparing supervisory staff performance assessments, developing mentoring and coaching plans, recommending disciplinary or recognition actions, and ensuring team leaders coordinate workflow in their respective units. The position also includes reviewing court activities for compliance with laws, court rules, and directives, prioritizing work, monitoring completeness and accuracy, and participating in goal-setting for assigned units.
Additional responsibilities include preparing and analyzing case processing statistical reports, creating strategies to reduce backlog, working closely with assigned judges and other managers, assessing training needs, preparing and administering budgets, monitoring training policies, participating in interviews, handling customer service disputes, and assisting with court calendars.
Knowledge of civil case flow management is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage supervisory staff (team leaders) and prepare performance assessments.
- Develop, mentor, and coach plans for supervisory staff.
- Recommend disciplinary and/or employee recognition actions.
- Ensure team leaders coordinate workflow handled by staff in their units.
- Review court activities for compliance with laws, court rules, and directives.
- Prioritize work and monitor for completeness and accuracy.
- Participate in formulating and developing goals and objectives for assigned units.
- Prepare and analyze case processing statistical reports.
- Create strategies to reduce backlog within time frames required by court rule/statute.
- Work closely with assigned judge(s) and other managers.
- Assess training needs and requirements to enhance staff skills and abilities.
- Prepare and administer budget.
- Monitor ongoing training policies and procedures.
- Participate in job/team applicant interviews.
- Handle customer service disputes.
- Assist with numerous court calendars.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and three years of professional administrative experience, one of which must include:
- Reviewing court activities for compliance with laws, court rules, or administrative directives.
- Consulting with judges, attorneys, and law clerks.
- Evaluating case management systems.
- Coordinating activities between agencies, government, and enforcement units.
- Preparing and analyzing case processing statistical reports.
Substitution Options:
- Additional professional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis (one year of experience = 30 semester hour credits).
- An associate's degree and two years of additional professional experience may substitute for the required bachelor's degree.
- A master's degree may substitute for one year of the required experience.
- A law degree may substitute for two years of the required experience.

Requirements
- Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is required.
- Possession of a driver's license valid in New Jersey if the operation of a vehicle is necessary for essential duties.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (U.S. citizenship is not required).
- Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check, including fingerprinting.
- Residency in the State of New Jersey is required within one year of hire, per the "New Jersey First Act" (exemptions may be requested for hardship or employer critical need).
Schedule
The Judiciary offers a hybrid work schedule for this position, with eligibility for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. Participation requires high-speed home internet access and the installation of a multifactor authentication app on a phone or tablet.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $94,937.45 to $152,547.50. Newly hired individuals typically start at the minimum of the salary range. Current Judiciary employees receive a 5% base salary increase upon promotion or advancement, not to exceed the maximum of the range or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.
