Job Summary

Temporary retail sales positions available for the West Virginia Department of Agriculture’s “Country Store” during the State Fair of WV, August 13 - August 22, 2026, in Lewisburg, WV.

Examples of Work

• Maintains inventory stockroom and sets up merchandise displays on the sales floor.
• Welcomes customers by greeting them; offers assistance.
• Directs customers by escorting them to racks and counters; suggests items.
• Advises customers by providing information on products.
• Processes payments by totaling purchases; processing cash and credit cards.
• Develops solutions for customers by listening to their needs and recommending the appropriate products.
• Collaborates with other team members to keep the sales floor area clean and organized at all times.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• General knowledge of retail sales.
• Ability to process retail sales.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations.
• Ability to work well on a team.
• Excellent skills in communicating with the public.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Customer service experience preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment drug testing.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment law enforcement background investigation, including DMV records.
• Maintain a positive image of the Commissioner, West Virginia Department of Agriculture, and the State of West Virginia.
