Counter-Sorter - Temporary
About the role
The Counter-Sorter handles, counts, sorts and records incoming soiled textiles from various customers such as restaurants, hotels, medical facilities, and shops. You will identify damaged or abused textiles and prepare and transfer them to other departments. You will report to the Production Manager.
Responsibilities
- Open bag of soiled textiles, then sort them by type, size and color.
- Count textiles manually or electronically and transfer them into sorting systems.
- Identify damaged or abused textiles and record into sorting systems.
- Comply with Spindle Job Classification efficiency and safety standards for the position.
- Follow policy and procedures related to wearing assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Function in a team environment.
Requirements
Physical Tasks: Standing and walking for extended periods; reaching overhead; pushing and pulling carts or bins; grasping and handling textiles; lifting up to 50 pounds; stooping or bending.
Work Environment: Exposure to temperature variations, humidity, odors, lint, and dust in production areas of an industrial laundry facility.
Qualifications
Ability to meet the physical demands for the entire shift.
Skills
Flexibility to perform different tasks within the team based on daily operational needs.
