Counter Sales Associate (Temporary)

Responsibilities

• Partner with customers to provide industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and other essential supplies.
• Serve as a trusted guide, advising customers on the tools, hardware, and materials needed to successfully complete their projects.
• Demonstrate equipment use and share insights on product quality to help customers pioneer new solutions.
• Adhere to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external partners, fostering understanding and long-term relationships.
• Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed, including coding, costing, and pricing.
• Partner with customers to identify the best tools and procedures for their specific tasks.
• Manage order entry and process transactions; assist the team with the reconciliation of deposits.
• Coordinate via phone, email, and in person with customers and team members to provide helpful information on costs and delivery.
• Contribute to an outgoing call strategy to support the continued growth and success of the branch.
• Coordinate the transfer of merchandise between locations to meet customer needs.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a supportive manner with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
• Stock shelves and maintain welcoming showroom displays to provide an excellent customer experience.
• Coordinate cylinder movement and pallet organization.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–5 years of experience in product, warehouse, or sales environments (or equivalent combination of education and unique life experience).
• Regular attendance and punctuality are strict requirements.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience in industrial retail, inside sales, or inventory control is a plus.
• Attention to detail in handling transactions.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and move up to 150 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment.
• Availability for occasional overtime when the team needs extra support.
• Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.

Preferred Qualifications

• A background in gas, welding, or safety supplies.
• Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Google or Microsoft Office applications and SAP is a plus.
• The ability to communicate clearly and warmly with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds.
