About the role
The Counter Sales Associate I at Johnstone Supply is responsible for fulfilling customer HVAC/R product needs by providing technical support, special ordering, and managing store profitability. This role requires a strong focus on customer service, relationship building, and maintaining a professional and clean store environment.
Responsibilities
- Fulfills customer HVAC/R product needs by providing technical support and special ordering
- Maintains a team working environment and store profitability
- Provides prompt, friendly, and professional service to Johnstone customers in-person and over the phone
- Greets customers, handles multiple customer requests, and assists with product selection
- Researches and sources product for customers using various tools and coordinates transportation of product
- Processes customer transactions, follows up on requests, and communicates with customers about order status
- Maintains and increases the company's market presence by maintaining a clean and professional showroom
- Communicates sales lead information to outside sales staff and management
- Communicates unexpected changes in product demand and inventory to management
- Sustains a team-oriented work environment by treating fellow employees and customers professionally and addressing customer issues
- Reports to work as scheduled, on time, and supports high-quality customer service
- Safeguards the cash and physical assets of the store
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years of related experience and/or training in a wholesale/retail environment
- Experience in a wholesale/retail environment in the HVAC/R or related industry
- Ability to run a point-of-sale terminal, research HVAC/R items, and help prepare required sales and customer reports
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite of products
- Working knowledge of ERP systems
- Ability to operate power equipment, including forklift, or ability to learn on the job
- Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities
- Polished and professional demeanor in person, online, and via phone
- Excellent organizational skills
Qualifications
- General knowledge of HVAC/R products, concepts, and the industry
- Ability to learn on the job
- Reads and demonstrates basic math skills, including ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide
- English proficiency (written and spoken) is a core requirement for this position
