About the role
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) in the Division of Student Affairs at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) is seeking talented, hard-working individuals passionate about supporting the psychological wellbeing and success of Cal Poly Pomona students.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychological services as a generalist, including brief individual counseling, couples and/or group counseling, intake services, treatment planning, and referrals.
- Conduct crisis intervention services in response to concerns ranging from adjustment distress to risk factors requiring further assessment and hospitalization.
- Consult and provide outreach services to various constituencies on campus, such as student organizations, faculty, and staff.
- Serve as a resource to university offices to enhance student wellbeing.
- Provide clinical supervision for unlicensed clinicians.
- Work some evenings and weekends for campus outreach events or emergency/disaster/crisis situations.
Requirements
- Possession of a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work or related field.
- A valid license to practice as a mental health provider in the State of California (e.g., LMFT, LCSW, Psychologist) or eligibility for licensure within 6 months of hire.
- Knowledge of CA legal and ethical standards and ability to utilize sound ethical judgment.
- Experienced in providing brief therapy, addressing diverse client needs, and managing crisis situations.
- Experience in group counseling, case management, and referral processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to make effective presentations and write clear clinical notes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or a related field.
- Specialized experience in areas such as adjustment, acculturation, first-generation student experiences, men's mental health, eating disorders, and substance use disorders.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills.
Benefits
Salary range: $7,127 to $12,771 per month (12 monthly payments per year). Anticipated hiring range depends on experience and qualifications, not exceeding $7,400 per month.
