About the Role

At Saint Alphonsus Health System, we are looking for passionate individuals who are living out their calling and challenged to achieve their potential. As a Behavioral Health Counselor, you will conduct psychosocial assessments, provide education, and deliver therapeutic interventions for patients and families to achieve optimal care.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups.
  • Ensure the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to patients.
  • Assess patient’s treatment needs and provide appropriate interventions, including:
    • Group and family therapy
    • Risk assessment
    • Chemical dependency groups
    • Case management with community providers
    • Facilitating and documenting a viable discharge plan
  • Complete psychosocial assessments and consult with physicians and hospital staff regarding patient and family psychological issues through formal and/or informal multidisciplinary conferences and treatment planning.
  • May be called to facilitate the Treatment Planning process.
  • Work cooperatively with the immediate team and other hospital caregivers to meet the emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of patients and/or their family/caregivers.
  • Complete clinical documentation in the required timeframe and within set standards.

Requirements

  • Licensed as one of the following in the state where practicing:
    • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
    • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
    • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Two years of post-license experience in a related mental health setting preferred.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS.
