About the role
This position manages a caseload of high-risk students by providing counseling support to assist them in meeting educational and life goals. It includes counseling and/or proactive and developmental advising services.
Responsibilities
- Execute assigned ongoing responsibilities in the student services functional area on a timely basis.
- Provide crisis intervention and short-term solution-based counseling for students.
- Provide referrals to appropriate human service and community agencies.
- Deliver educational programming and workshops for students on topics related to counseling and academic success.
- Develop individualized success plans and coordinate support services to aid student retention.
- Develop a strong working knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices applicable to student services.
- Provide academic advising to students.
- Establish and maintain open communication with students and faculty.
- Develop a working knowledge of the various academic programs offered by the college.
- Utilize professional skills in counseling students individually or in groups, particularly those academically at risk, economically disadvantaged, or identified as high risk of not completing their program.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of program participants and high-risk caseload.
- Complete special projects designed to meet the needs of students and the student services area.
- Serve as a resource to faculty and staff in matters concerning student growth and development.
- Establish and maintain open communication with faculty, administration, and departmental staff.
- Function as an active member of the student services team and contribute creative professional input to student development programs.
- Serve as a liaison between program participants, staff, and outside social service agencies.
- Compile data, maintain student program records, and complete required reports.
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, work groups/teams, and professional organizations.
- Enhance professional knowledge by staying current with emerging practices, trends, and new technologies.
- Maintain up-to-date professional credentials and best practices through certifications, seminars, and training programs.
- Maintain and develop work-related knowledge, skills, and competencies through professional and cross-training opportunities.
- Travel to other locations as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counselor Education, School Counseling, Professional Counseling, or a related counseling field required.
- Valid driver’s license required.

- Demonstrated knowledge of the counseling process and related activities.
- Expertise and working knowledge of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field of specialization.
- Ability to handle sensitive and complex issues consistently, confidentially, and professionally.
- Excellent organizational skills, including prioritizing multiple work assignments and managing tasks in a dynamic environment with attention to detail.

Clearances Required
- PA Child History clearance
- PA Criminal Record Check clearance

Preferred Qualifications
- Related work experience in higher education preferred.
- Prior work experience must have met or exceeded appropriate work standards.
Physical Demands

Audible Demands: Ability to communicate orally and hear conversation.

Environmental Conditions: Work is primarily conducted in a typical indoor office environment with appropriate lighting, noise, and temperature control.

Pay
$29.38/hour

- Monday: Part-time daylight and evening schedule (days/shifts to be established)
- Tuesday: Part-time daylight and evening schedule (days/shifts to be established)
- Wednesday: Part-time daylight and evening schedule (days/shifts to be established)
- Thursday: Part-time daylight and evening schedule (days/shifts to be established)
- Friday: Part-time daylight schedule (days/shifts to be established)
